Work really got to me this weekend. I don’t think I’ve been on my A game lately, and it came to a head on Saturday. I couldn’t focus on the UGA game, I couldn’t sleep, I was…not in a great place. It’s still not great, but what IS great is the other side of life. We had a lovely trip to an orchard on Sunday and I got into a fun themed Peloton studio class tonight. I’m focusing on the good now, and there’s still plenty of that to go around.

This was our 3rd year at Harvest Moon I believe, and it was probably my favorite visit. I largely go because it’s my annual chance for a giant turkey leg, but now I like going because I can watch V really get into it. He loved picking (and snacking on) the apples and had several turns in the bouncy houses and hay maze. It was a long day and we were all sweaty and exhausted by the time we walked back into our home 7 hours later, but it meant one activity covered the entire day and that’s always a big parenting win.

Ever since my beloved Yuzu closed, I haven’t been thrilled with our local sushi options. I recently decided to take it to social media and do some research on sushi spots that fell within our delivery radius. That’s how I discovered Amura, which has high quality sushi with a great fish to rice ratio and very reasonable prices. Only downside is that a review of mukbangs on TikTok indicated the kani salad would be too crunch-heavy for my taste. A small sacrifice. I ate my perfect meal on a tray in bed with a large glass of wine and a Bridgestone rewatch on my iPad. It was an ideal evening. Already planning my next order. (Tomorrow. My next order will be tomorrow.)

In April, I embarked on the very daunting project of writing a novel. It has not been easy (especially with a full time job), but it has been an electrifying process. On Tuesday night, I crossed the 20K-word threshold, which feels like a major milestone. It puts me at 25% to my goal and is matching up content-wise. When a friend in my writers group congratulated me, she shared the anecdote “Tessa Bailey once told me 20k is when it really starts to feel like a real thing and I was at 10k at the time and was like shut up but she was right lmao.” I completely agree. This feels real and like it’s really coming together. I can’t wait to share it with the world (and hope the world aka literary agents want to receive it).
